Unfortunately continued to make the population suffer, and somewhat complicated our crossings to the North. The volcano Copahue, located 350 km North of Bariloche and which I had seen explode on December 22nd, 2012, resumed its activity on September 2016 and has since continuously ejected gases and toxic fumes. As the crater is at an altitude of 3,000 m, these fumes eventually penetrate the wave systems and we found them up to more than 4,000 m. It was therefore necessary to make sure to stay well above to not be asphyxiated or getting the canopy opacified as happened to me years ago.
